Becoming Whole
I was contacted by Santa Fe mixed media and assemblage artist, Darlene Olivia McElroy, about using my Polaroid emulsion lift, Becoming Whole, on the website she is setting up to promote her upcoming book, Image Transfer Workshop. The website will go live in a couple of weeks and can be accessed through this link. Pre orders for the book are being taken on Amazon.com. Darlene creates amazing work, as can be seen on her website. I am honored that she likes my work and am looking forward to checking out her book.

My Own Private Idaho
This is the first image I ever shot using my Holga CFN 120, my Polaroid/Holgaroid back and Type 80 Chocolate Film from PolaPremium. This film produces prints with pink and brown tones (a palette that some people know I play with, as in this series of work you can see on my Flickr). I took this image about 5 weeks ago while we were driving through Idaho on our way to Washington State to see friends. The images below were also made at that time.
These images make me realize yet again that when we look at old photographs we think that life was so different than it is now, but in reality, it is the way that the image was captured that dictates the feel of that time, not the actual reality of what it may have been like. Does that make sense? It is late, I should go to bed...

Polaroid Illustration by Phil Jones
Goodbye Polaroid by Phil Design Art
I was contacted awhile back by Phil Jones, an illustrator in Charlotte, North Carolina, who wanted to share with me a Polaroid illustration he created. We all know that there has been a lot of talk lately about various people and groups rescuing Polaroid and continuing to make film. Good news for us all! But, the fat lady has not sung, and more and more people each day hear about the possible demise of this awesome film. Phil was one of these people. And rather than rehashing his reasons for creating this, I will let you check out his blog, to get the story straight from him. Thanks for letting me post it here, Phil!

And the Winner Is...
Wow, thank you so much, to all of you! There was a great turn out for this contest. I appreciate all of your comments, and will be checking out each of your blogs in the coming weeks. I JUST had a baby, so it may take awhile but I am spending a lot of time sitting so can read, too, lol. Thanks to those of you who are subscribers and followers. If any of you have Polaroid or photo based blogs that sometimes feature Polaroid images by you, please let me know, as I would be happy to link to and to blog about you....
And now, for the winner. I assigned you each a number, then did a random draw, as your comments were all great and useful to me. So, the winner is.... RTichy! Thanks again! I can't wait to check you all out...
